for real tho i feel like ppl being angry about ao3 hosting really unsavory fanfics/tropes/whatever are. really missing a point.
like people are forgetting what ao3 is. archive of our own. an archive for fanfiction. an online archive of what we’ve written. because so much of that has been deleted, torn down, and lost. im younger than a lot and there is a lot of history regarding fandoms i would LOVE to read about bc i find it interesting! but i can’t. because it’s been deleted.
i have been working in a library for three years now. i’ve been going to libraries since i was a kid.
ao3 can easily be descibed as a library of self-published fanworks. think about it- a free public service. easily accessible, and neutral.
now, there is a rule with being a librarian. not a law, mind you. but to be a good librarian, you have to be neutral. not yourself personally, but in what you get. there are published books on our shelves that are straight up USA fascism shit. we hate them. literally every one of our small staff hates trump. but we get books written about him in a good light (and we make jokes of using hand sanitizer after shelving them). we also get just as many books calling trump the facist scum he is.
because this isn’t our personal bookshelf, it is a public archive. and for any archive to be good it must cover all faucets.
also, ao3 was made so our asses wouldn’t get sued, they run seemingly off of 5$ and a half-eaten sandwich given their scale, and quite fucking frankly, it isn’t their goddamn job to pull every fic down that someone disagrees with because their job is making sure shit stays running.
Two humans that are present here are different, just to make sure that no one else is confused, especially when there’s maaaany people around in that area. 😀 Guhhh.
Whoops… Honestly… Never really thought this part would take me forever to finish, considering that polishing sketches is always fun and I never had problem with that but then I immediately realized that there were so many panels with these characters that needed to be cleaned up. XDD But despite that I had fun as I just learned one or two about war stuff, gaining more new artistic experiences or tricks, and still has to improve drawing on rifles somewhat (just gotta stop being a lazy-butt and use references for once lol). X3 Nevertheless, I already ADORE this series a lot!
So, back to that point, after this, next four updates are probably going to be delayed depending on how things are in life (hopefully not ). Anyway, enjoy and stay tuned for what’s happening next! ❤ dundundun…
It’s finished! Thank you to @flametorchic for providing the textures I was missing, which helped this get done a lot faster.
Welcome everybody to the first edition of my Xenoblade Chronicles: Fashion Disaster retexture project! This is a Dolphin emulator texture mod for Sharla that edits her costumes so they are supportive, practical, and comfortable. This originally started off as a personal project I was doing, but after I posted a picture of the edits, I was surprised to know how many people really appreciated the redesigns. So, I decided to finish the textures and provide them for all to enjoy!
This texture pack is only for shirts and pants, and it does not affect swimwear, underwear, or any clothing in the style of her default appearance. This pack does not alter the model itself, only the textures. It is 100% free and can be turned off at any time. This will NOT work for the Wii version–however, you can transfer your save data from your Wii/Wii U to Dolphin and continue right where you left off with no problems!
Inside the folder you will find a Read Me that contains information on how to install, how to transfer your save data, and troubleshooting help.
If you enjoy this mod, please consider sharing it with other Xenoblade fans. If you have any questions, feedback, or issues with the mod, feel free to send me an ask. And stay tuned for the Melia and Fiora packs to come in the near future! Updates for this will be posted in my #xenobladefashiondisaster tag.
the following are concepts that i quickly learned my way around when growing up in fandom, but that seem to have fallen out of use recently. i’d like to propose a revival of…
NOTP: a pairing that, for whatever reason, you simply cannot stand. it can be because the ship repulses you morally, or because you hate one of the characters, or love them both but despise their dynamic – or just because looking at it makes you uncomfortable, for whatever reason.
different from labeling something a “bad ship” in that it implies an entirely personal preference.
calling a ship your NOTP informs others that you really, really, REALLY dislike it, while also acknowledging that you don’t know what other people’s reasons are for shipping it, or what interpretations they may have that makes it work for them.
a cool way of avoiding stuff you hate while also not morally condemning thousands of complete strangers for liking it.
squick: similar to notp, but goes for anything, not just romantic pairings. something you just don’t like, either for specific reasons or just because it irrationally repulses you.
not as severe as a trigger in the sense that it doesn’t cause any extreme and potentially harmful reactions – it’s just something you’d rather not see, because it grosses you the fuck out. and that’s okay.
decent people respect other people’s squicks, while also remembering it’s cool for other people to like things they personally are squicked by.
this works as long as everyone agrees not to be dicks and shove stuff in people’s faces in unwarranted ways.
crackship: a ship that just doesn’t make any sense. there’s absolutely no chance that these characters would ever end up together.
perhaps they’ve never interacted. perhaps they are on opposite sides of a war. perhaps one of them died a thousand years ago. for whatever reason, there’s zero possibility of this becoming canon.
still, you’d like to see how they’d romantically mesh, to explore their dynamic or a what-if scenario – or maybe they’re just two characters you really like to imagine smooching one another.
the fact that it isn’t and never will be canon doesn’t matter, and can even be part of the appeal. it certainly does not invalidate the ship’s existence. the ultimate form of doing something just for fun.
these words all help describe the cool concept of doing stuff you enjoy, while also realizing others may be doing things you hate, but not in order to victimize you personally. live and let live! give people the benefit of the doubt! it’s a good time. we should all try it.
